Summary

Relative uncertainty of the hot gas layer temperature rise and layer height caused by uncertainty in the heat release rate. Based on Hamins and McGrattan (2007), pp. 5-1–5-2.

Original illustration for Uncertainty analysis, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Hamins and McGrattan (2007), p. 5-1 (HRR uncertainty 15 % to 25 %, MQH correlation) and p. 5-2 (two-thirds rule; layer height 1 % to 2 %)
  • Alt text: Chart: temperature uncertainty rises at two-thirds of the heat release rate uncertainty, while layer height uncertainty stays near 1 to 2 %.
