Summary

Average emissive power of pool fire flames against pool diameter according to Shokri and Beyler and to Mudan. Based on Beyler (2002a), pp. 3-277, 3-278 and 3-281.

Original illustration for Solid flame model, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Beyler (2002a), p. 3-277 (Equation 20), p. 3-278 (Figure 3-11.15, both correlations plotted: redraw the idea, do not copy) and p. 3-281 (Mudan's correlation); the plotted values are evaluations of the two formulas; Iqbal and Salley (2004), p. 5-17 (pool diameters 1 to 50 m)
  • Alt text: Line chart: emissive power falls with pool diameter, from about 126 (Mudan) and 57 kW/m² (Shokri and Beyler) at 1 m to about 20 kW/m² at 50 m.
