Fse-smoke-barrier-v3.svg (SVG file, nominally 900 × 600 pixels, file size: 7 KB)

Summary

A smoke barrier alone (left) and a barrier with pressurisation (right): air flowing outward through the gaps keeps smoke on the fire side. Based on Klote (2002), pp. 4-278 to 4-279.

Original vector illustration for Smoke barrier, level 2 Intermediate.

  • Source basis: Klote (2002), p. 4-278 (Figure 4-12.5, pressure difference across a barrier; redraw, do not copy) and p. 4-279 (advantages of smoke control)
  • Alt text: Wall with a door between smoke and an escape route: left, smoke leaks through gaps; right, fan-driven air flows out through the gaps.
