Summary

Buoyancy in a fire room with one opening: the pressure difference between inside and outside grows with height above the neutral plane, where it is zero. Based on Van Rossum (2027), §3.2, and Klote (2002), p. 4-276.

Original vector illustration for Ideal gas law, level 2 Intermediate.

  • Source basis: Van Rossum (2027), §3.2 (Δp ≈ g·h·(ρ₁ − ρ₂), neutral plane, inflow below, outflow above); Klote (2002), p. 4-276 (buoyancy pressure, 13 Pa example)
  • Alt text: Fire room with a door: smoke out above the neutral plane, air in below; a graph shows the pressure difference growing with height.
