Summary

Dose needed for incapacitation against concentration: nearly constant for carbon monoxide, as Haber's rule predicts, but falling steeply for hydrogen cyanide. Based on Purser (2002), pp. 2-88 and 2-105.

Original illustration for Haber's rule, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Purser (2002), p. 2-88 (Figure 2-6.5 caption values), p. 2-104 (constant 27,000 ppm·min for CO; about 2000 and 400 ppm·min for HCN at 100 and 200 ppm) and p. 2-105 (Equation 9, valid range about 80 to 180 ppm and above). New chart; do not copy Figure 2-6.6.
  • Alt text: Two charts of dose to incapacitation against concentration: flat for carbon monoxide, falling steeply for hydrogen cyanide.
