Summary

Time to incapacitation of active monkeys against concentration: carbon monoxide follows a constant dose of about 27,000 ppm·min (left), hydrogen cyanide does not (right). Based on Purser (2002), pp. 2-87–2-88 and 2-104–2-105.

Original vector illustration for Fire toxicity, level 2 Intermediate.

  • Source basis: Purser (2002), p. 2-87 (Haber's rule, 27,000 ppm·min), p. 2-88 (Figure 2-6.5 values; HCN doses), p. 2-104 (HCN Ct values), p. 2-105 (80 ppm threshold); compare Figure 2-6.6 (p. 2-89), redraw, do not copy.
  • Alt text: Two charts of time to incapacitation against gas concentration: a smooth hyperbola for carbon monoxide and a steep drop for hydrogen cyanide.
