Summary

Main parts of a deluge system. A separate detector opens the deluge valve, after which water flows from every open nozzle at once. Based on Fleming (2002), p. 4-72 and Iqbal and Salley (2004), p. 10-2.

Original vector illustration for Deluge system, level 2 Intermediate.

  • Source basis: Fleming (2002), p. 4-72 (open sprinklers, deluge valve holds water back from piping, separate detection system, simultaneous discharge); Iqbal and Salley (2004), p. 10-2 (no fusible elements, valve at supply side, heat detectors above the open sprinklers, manual actuation)
  • Alt text: Schematic: a water main feeds a deluge valve; above it a pipe network with open nozzles all spraying; a detector near the ceiling signals the valve.
