Summary

Maximum rate of pressure rise against vessel volume for two dusts, calculated from their deflagration index. Points mark the 20-litre test sphere, a 1 m³ vessel and the 400 m³ precipitator of the worked example. Based on Zalosh (2002), pp. 3-404 and 3-409.

Original illustration for Deflagration index, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Zalosh (2002), p. 3-409 (KG and KST definitions), p. 3-404 (KSt values); the lines assume compact vessels in which KSt is independent of size, as in Eq. 9 on p. 3-409
  • Alt text: Two falling straight lines on logarithmic axes showing maximum rate of pressure rise against vessel volume for KSt 59 and 209.
