Fse-fault-tree-analysis-v2.svg (SVG file, nominally 900 × 600 pixels, file size: 10 KB)

Summary

Simplified fault tree for a two-path fire protection system. Events shared by both paths (orange, dashed outline) defeat the redundancy of the top AND gate. Based on Modarres and Joglar-Billoch (2002), pp. 5-37 to 5-38.

Original illustration for Fault tree analysis, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Modarres and Joglar-Billoch (2002), p. 5-38 (Figure 5-3.19, structure of the tree), p. 5-37 (shared detector/alarm/actuator, electric power and water tank as physical dependencies), pp. 5-36 to 5-37 (system description); redraw, do not copy
  • Alt text: Fault tree with an AND gate over two path failures; tank, actuating device and power feed both paths, so each of them alone can fail the system.
