Summary

Mass flow per square metre of roof vent for a 3 m deep smoke layer at different temperatures above an ambient 293 K, and the vent area factor needed to keep the flow of the 100 K case. Based on Cooper (2002b), pp. 3-223 to 3-224.

Original illustration for Sprinkler-vent interaction, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Cooper (2002b), p. 3-223 (Eqs. 16 to 19) and p. 3-224 (Example 1 values 9.0 Pa, 2.7 m/s, 2.4 kg/(s·m²))
  • Alt text: Bar chart: vent mass flow per square metre falls from 2.4 to 1.0 kg/s as the layer cools from 100 K to 10 K above ambient.
