Summary

Relative mass flow through a roof vent as a function of the ratio of absolute layer and ambient temperature, with the layer at 100 K and, after spray cooling, 20 K above 293 K. Based on Cooper (2002b), pp. 3-223 to 3-224.

Original illustration for Sprinkler-vent interaction, level 4 Expert.

  • Source basis: Cooper (2002b), p. 3-223 (Eq. 19) and p. 3-224 (maximum at T_lay = 2 T_amb; within 80 percent above 1.3; Figure 3-9.3: redraw, do not copy)
  • Alt text: Curve of relative vent mass flow against layer to ambient temperature ratio, peaking at 2; points mark 100 K and 20 K above ambient.
