Summary

When local extraction reaches through a smoke layer, some exhaust capacity draws air from below. Based on Van Rossum (2027), §6.8, and Cooper (2002), p. 3-228.

Original illustration for Plugholing, level 3 Advanced.

  • Source basis: Van Rossum (2027), §6.8; Cooper (2002), p. 3-228, Figure 3-9.9: redraw, do not copy.
  • Alt text: Two ceiling outlets showing smoke-only withdrawal and withdrawal that also draws air from the lower layer.
  • Accuracy notes: Lower-layer air rises towards the extract; do not draw smoke being pushed down by suction or imply a fixed geometric shape.
