Summary
A fire in an adjoining space can produce a different smoke route and plume from a fire on the atrium floor. Based on Milke (2002), pp. 4-299–4-302, and Van Rossum (2027), §9.3.
Original illustration for Atrium smoke control, level 3 Advanced.
- Source basis: Milke (2002), pp. 4-299–4-302; Van Rossum (2027), §9.3. Create an original visual; redraw, do not copy source figures.
- Alt text: Atrium sections comparing a central rising plume with smoke flowing from a room beneath a balcony and then rising.
- Accuracy notes: Do not use the same entrainment equation for both geometries or imply that a balcony plume always has a greater flow at every height.
