Summary

Calculated view factor for a small central receiver facing a fixed square source at different separations. Based on Van Rossum (2027), §5.4.

Original illustration for View factor, level 3 Advanced.

  • Source basis: Van Rossum (2027), §5.4, rectangular-source formula; Python worked point recorded in calculations.json.
  • Alt text: A calculated view factor decreases with separation from a 49 m square source, reaching about 0.831 at 12.25 m.
  • Accuracy notes: Use the receiver-to-source factor and radians. Do not label the curve as received heat flux or apply a point-source inverse-square expression.
