Fse-critical-heat-flux-for-ignition-v2.svg (SVG file, nominally 900 × 600 pixels, file size: 12 KB)

Summary

The critical flux is the horizontal-axis intercept of the fitted model. The illustrated line uses red oak parameters. Based on Iqbal and Salley (2004), pp. 6-5–6-6.

Original illustration for Critical heat flux for ignition, level 3 Advanced.

  • Source basis: Iqbal and Salley (2004), p. 6-5, Eq. 6-2, and p. 6-6, Table 6-3; redraw, do not copy.
  • Alt text: Calculated inverse-square-root ignition time against heat flux, extrapolated to an intercept at 10 kW/m².
  • Accuracy notes: Label extrapolation clearly; do not draw a negative-time or below-threshold branch. Use the NUREG parameter convention.
