Summary

Molar coefficients and mass proportions are different quantities in complete methane combustion. Based on Van Rossum (2027), §3.3.

Original illustration for Stoichiometry, level 3 Advanced.

  • Source basis: Van Rossum (2027), §3.3, methane reaction diagram; redraw, do not copy.
  • Alt text: One mole of methane reacts with two moles of oxygen, corresponding to approximately 16 g and 64 g.
  • Accuracy notes: Conserve one carbon, four hydrogen and four oxygen atoms. Do not imply oxygen mass is twice methane mass.
