Summary

Approximate values at two stages of one cedar test; they are not universal timber properties. Based on Babrauskas (2002), pp. 3-1–3-2.

Original illustration for Effective heat of combustion, level 3 Advanced.

  • Source basis: Babrauskas (2002), chapter 3-1, pp. 3-1–3-2, Figure 3-1.1; redraw, do not copy. The bars represent approximate stage values stated in the text, not digitised observations.
  • Alt text: Two bars show approximately 12 MJ/kg early in the cedar test and 30 MJ/kg during final charring.
  • Accuracy notes: Do not imply constant mass loss, exact measurement times, error bars or a full time history. Preserve 17 mm and 65 kW/m² as the test conditions.
